Filigree is a real 'art',that if it isn't done right,it becomes obvious in the over all look.Just a couple of millimeters can make a huge difference in getting the form even & unfortunately not all that do filigree are masters,since it takes years & practically a lifetime to achieve the title "Master"...It is very obvious that this was made by one of Federico's top master filigree artists & it's a piece that takes time to make & cannot be made in a just a few days! There are many steps to filigree to make it perfect!
In Mexico there are different styles of filigree & with that said,even though this is a Oaxaca necklace,this style of filigree is actually known to come from Chiapas. Normally we see filigree to be very lacy with lots of open space,but with this type, the wires are soldered together & are precisely looped to perfection & sit in what appears to be in a bezel..(See photos,especially 6 & 9) The more wire used,means more given to the weight,along with more time.
This isn't just a necklace,but more like a "work of art"!
The Kissing Love Bird center piece is personally one of my favorites! Look how elegant & beautiful they look! The plump Love Birds have the most elaborate long tail feathers of filigree.The drop is truly feminine,serene feeling & has a undeniable look of Mexico written all over it! The center flower coordinates with the same flower design that is in the panels & are made of a triple dimensional layered design.
Called a "Mexican Wedding necklace",but you don't have to be getting married to wear it!  Wear this on your special day or make any day happy when you step out with this on!
