Description
This is a very nice 900 Silver and Amethyst Mexican necklace from the 40's or 50's.It is 17 1/2" long and weighs 56.6 grams.
It was marked Mexico Silver which is 90% Silver on the back, but someone years ago carefully scratched out Mexico,
back when Mexican Silver was not held in as much esteem. This has been tested as Silver.
Before Sterling was readily available, the Silversmiths would melt Silver Pesos or U.S. Silver dollars both 90% Silver.
The round bezel set beautiful Amethyst Cabochons are 13.5mm wide and 5mm deep,
the Amethyst teardrop is 12 by 29.5mm and 8mm deep.
The 4 Silver comma shaped pieces are 1 1/4" tall, the middle double comma with the teardrop is 2 5/8" tall, not counting the chain.
Each link with a ring is 7/8" long.
This is beautifully designed and made necklace that is hard to find.
